About Us - U of C Move Improve Website, Server and Project

The U of C website for Move Improve platform testing is about a project between the University of Calgary, the Public Health Agency of Canada and Savvy Knowledge Corporation that is funded by the Innovation, Science and Economic Development (ISED) through its Innovative Solutions Canada program.

PURPOSE

The Innovation, Science and Economic Development (ISED), Innovative Solutions Canada Program, leverages research and development (R&D) procurement to provide federal departments & agencies with an opportunity to test late-stage R&D innovations in operational environments. Innovations are solicited through open or thematic Call for Proposals (CFPs), through which innovative Canadian companies can receive a first-reference sale with Canada and valuable feedback on the performance of their technology. Through Innovative Solutions Canada , federal departments can test innovations which have prequalified into the program and are identified as having potential value aligned with the departmental mandate or operational needs.

Savvy Knowledge Corporation was awarded a contract with the Government of Canada through the Innovative Solutions Canada program for testing the Move Improve platform. The project is sponsored by the Public Health Agency of Canada with key participation from the University to Calgary.

THE INNOVATION

Savvy Knowledge Corporation (Savvy) created an innovative, patented, interactive, multimedia learning platform called MOVE Improve.

Multiple research studies show that the platform is highly effective at engaging learners, improving learning and retention, and increasing self-efficacy (confidence in ability to perform a task).

The platform allows for the creation of learning ‘Activities’ that can be used for self-evaluation, peer to peer learning, instructor assessment and collaborative interactions. The platform promotes skill mastery and provides the opportunity to measure competency and mastery of learning. Content Creators build the learning materials (Activities) according to the prescribed format and upload the materials to the database server. These Activities can then be distributed through mobile devices (smart phones and tablets).

Savvy’s configurable Move Improve platform currently works with 11 major languages. MOVE Improve is customizable and can provide detailed data analytics on performance. The downloadable app for iOS and Android devices can also works offline for remote locations—no internet required.
